Ingredients
1 1 1/2 lb (750 g) lean ground beef
1 pkg (35 g) Old El Paso™ Taco Seasoning Mix
1/3 cup (75 mL) Old El Paso™ Medium Thick N' Chunky Salsa
1/4 cup (50 mL) dry breadcrumbs
1 egg
6 slices processed Cheddar, Swiss or mozzarella cheese
6 hamburger buns, toasted
Old El Paso™ Medium Thick N' Chunky Salsa
Instructions
In a mixing bowl, combine the 1/2 lb lean ground beef, pkg Old El Pasoᵀᴹ taco seasoning mix, a spoonful of Old El Pasoᵀᴹ medium Thick n' Chunky salsa, dry breadcrumbs and egg. Mix just until evenly blended, then divide and form into 6 patties, each 1/2-inch (1.25 cm) thick, pressing them gently so they hold together but are not too dense.
Preheat barbecue to medium-high. Place the patties on the grill and cook for 6 to 7 minutes. Flip each burger carefully and cook another 6 to 7 minutes or until no longer pink inside and cooked through, checking the center of a patty to confirm it is no longer pink.
Top each burger with slices processed cheddar during the last 2 to 3 minutes of cooking so the cheese melts over the hot patties. Transfer the burgers to hamburger buns and serve immediately with additional Old El Pasoᵀᴹ medium Thick n' Chunky salsa spooned over or on the side while still piping hot.
